Yesterday was election day. People went to the polls thinking their votes would make a difference. They won’t in a rigged and corrupt system. Yes, you might get a win here and there or unseat an incumbent, but without a comprehensive strategy to remove the grips of the Democratic Party from positions of power, these ‘victories’ won’t matter. New blood will be simply absorbed and contaminated. Bills can easily be resinded as we’re seeing with Ferguson reforms. The ‘vote’ won’t change anything… that should be your takeaway from Obama. Are you better after 8 years? No. Were you better after Bush? No. On the local level. Were you better after Slay? No. With Krewson? No. After electing candidates out of the progressive or protest movement? No. All voting did is keep us from exploring / creating alternatives that could produce change. We are not limited to voting and marching. But that’s what they would like you to believe, because both contribute to the status quo. And they’re not gonna lead you down any other path. Yet, we continue to cling to, engage and defend the illusion.
