When we talk about building, we’re talking specifically about building systems and institutions… platforms and outlets, not another summit, film/documentary or restaurant. We’re not gonna debate, wine and dine or entertain ourselves out of this.

Previous Post Photo – Most black folks have never build anything and have no idea of what building looks like. They think building is simply the act of doing… and looking good in the process. More emphasis is placed on cosmetics and ‘look at me’ than on foundation and a longterm plan for growth and development. Amazon, Google, Yahoo and Facebook were started in dorm rooms, garages, bedrooms and basements… It took years for them to peak. We have black techies following the same models building the platforms we need to compete but because they are in the basement/garage stages they don’t get support. They are considered failures. We have black and white opportunists trying to fill a void, throwing shit up, trying to make it look good. All style and no substance meant to capitalize on the moment. THAT we will support. And when it collapses, we’ll say “See, we tried”.

Next Post Photo – I reject the notion of what we can’t do. And people who call themselves problack, yet are always talbout what black people can’t do. Who are triggered by other black people even having this conversation or any conversation that counters waiting on massa or Jesus. How does the saying go? ‘Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.' #REPOST I don’t care if this is unpopular… I can’t with these “We can’t do nothing without white folks” negros… Talk about moving beyond the status quo to building our own systems & institutions and they start with the ‘how we can’t’… To suggest that we do what every other group does for its survival is labeled “capitalist rhetoric” or a Republican talking point, “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps.” Followed by “What if you have no bootstraps?” which is meant to dead the conversation. THIS is what happens when we have no bootstraps. Our diligence, creativity, ingenuity and ability to make something out of nothing is instinctive… our super strengths, what got us this far through the darkest times. It wasn’t money. If anybody is pushing exploitative capitalist rhetoric its them with the “Black folks ain’t got no money” while ignoring the trillions we make for and spend with other groups every year. Not building just gives them monopolies on black dollars… And contributes to our own oppression.
