We’re still responding to racism in the same manner: externally… seeking validation from the dominant society, standing in solidarity with everyone except ourselves and trying to change the hearts and minds of racists… instead of internally, changing us… our obsessive need for validation from folks who benefit from out exploitation within a system designed for our demise, in valuing fighting on the side of those outside our community over standing in solidarity with our own and peeling back the layers of why we put so much energy into pointing out all the ways white people work in their own interests as if pointing that out will guilt them into working in ours… instead of taking heed and working in our own best interests.
