We’re going through it fam… a lot of what we’re experiencing, the depths, is compounded, self inflicted… the result of 1. not studying/educating ourselves on black liberation and revolutionary thought, 2. not holding black faces in high places accountable and 3. not cleaning house, leaving them in position to further sabotage our progression. .
Because we as a collective are not politically educated and have not studied the lessons of our ancestors its easy to play on our emotions, sell us magic beans with a side of hope. To keep us marching in circles, settling for crumbs and the occasional pat on the head.
We don’t hold black faces in high places accountable despite Malcolm exposing how they are used by those in power against us. Instead they got us identifying with them. Cheering them on. Cheering our own demise.
We have yet to clean house. We still have civil rights, we shall overcome negros in position pushing assimilation/integration over a black agenda, over building our own, over us keeping our talents and the fruits of our labor in our communities.
We are set up to fail. By our own. To quote Lauryn Hill, “We lose the game before we even start to play” AKA black politics since the civil rights era.
