Or better yet start a black security firm for this purpose, giving black officers an alternative to working at the police department. Deescalation centers sound good, put they’re limited. They don’t teach discipline, problem solving, conflict resolution skills or alternatives. There is gonna be conflict, that’s just life. We’re not TEACHING people HOW TO DEAL WITH CONFLICT. There’s more to decreasing gun violence than saying “We must stop killing each other”, talking it out’ in a de-escalation center, curfews and gun laws.
