The 5 year anniversary is putting the region in the spotlight again… the establishment is scrambling trying to elevate anything that gives the appearance of change in order to hide widespread corruption, failing institutions and deep rooted racism… The rise in violence and crime is a symptom of all this. It starts at the top. When leadership/law enforcement is violent and criminal, that sets the tone. When leadership/law enforcement puts little value on black lives, that sets a tone. When blacks are forced to live in 3rd world conditions (blighted communities, high crime and increased violence, unaccredited/provisionally accredited schools, etc) that sets a tone. Exacerbating problems and neglecting conditions that keep us in perceptual survival mode sets a tone. Not gonna Better Family Life, diversity hire or Boys & Girls Club our way out of this. Change starts with changing the tone. None of that changes the tone.
