The issue with black misleadership, how it impacted the Ferguson Commission and everything before/since summed up,
"This is an another example of why the Ferguson Commission was ineffective. If you want to deal with economic inequality and institutional racism in the Saint Louis region you have to also critique the role white dominated unions have had in preventing working class African Americans from obtaining jobs. A major birth defect of the local Hands up coalition/ Black Lives Matter movement was that they did not critique the shortcomings of the Democratic Party and local Unions in maintaining institional racism and discrimination in the region. Ultimately this is probably due to the fact they were too reliant on "White" elite money with ties to the democrat party and a lack of a base in the broader Black community they initially scorned and cannot return to. However, some local black democrats in north country also actively prevented the coalition from pursuing a recall campaign at the exspense of the movement. One them will be reward with some instituional support for a statewide campaign. People forget that Jay Nixon, Clair McCaskill, Mayor Knowles, Bob McCulloch, Darren Wilson were all Democrats and union supporters. The local Taxi commission in a Democrat controlled city is an example of how institutional discrimination has played a major role in the prevention of African Americans from starting cab businesses."
