The issue that Elliot Davis continues to tap dance around is widespread massive corruption that exists within the police department... officers threatening to plant gun & cases on young brothas, officers who threaten to kill, then kill and are captured on video planting evidence, officers arrested for working for drug dealers, officers who murder... the latest scandal? A multimillion dollar pay scandal, where officers stole millions in overtime pay for work never performed. Elliot Davis pretends these issues have nothing to do with the riff that exists between police and the community or the spike in crime. This 'protect law enforcement at any costs, even when they're wrong' mentality only makes matters worse. What does it say when elected leaders and journalists seem fearful to take on police corruption? When they fear retaliation? Elliot Davis could be an advocate, but as long as he turns a blind eye to police corruption he's no different than those in power.
To clean up the city, you have to clean up the police department.
