Demoralized police? What about a fucking demoralized community that has watched bad cop after bad cop commit all types of crime and get away with murder of unarmed citizens, killing innocents during reckless police chases, theft of millions of dollars in the $5 million dollar overtime pay scandal, assaulting citizens at bars, framing people, throwing cases on young brothas, assaulting black undercover cops even murdering their own… we’re supposed to give all that a pass?

As for the others feeling the pushback from the public, they have no one to blame but their fellow officers. Feeling demoralized is not a get out of jail free card to not protect and serve. If they don’t want to do their jobs, fire them. If you felt demoralized to the point where you could not/would not do your job you would be fired and replaced.

The problem is police culture… that the mayor and board of aldermen have allowed all types of fuckery to go unchecked for years. That the new police chief and public safety director are out of the same problematic department… that bad officers are shuffled around, not fired and not charged. Kim Gardner has a list of 40+ problematic officers that she won’t take cases from but won’t charge. They’re still on the streets.

Police work for us. Not the other way around. The mayor works for us. Not the other way around. Kim Gardner works for us, again not the other way around. They are all problematic and ‘the people’ are suffering as a result.

What we’re seeing is a result of widespread police corruption… there is no fine line between suspects/criminals and suspects/criminals with a badge.
