Everything is a work in progress…

Everything is a work in progress, me, my life, my work, my platforms… EVERYTHING!!! I am in no rush, I’m constantly learning, growing… evolving. That is reflected in what I do and how I live my life. I learned to enjoy the journey. I have no problem doing this in front of you, I welcome…

““Going back to school is just super scary for me. If we’re so concerned about kids trading masks then why are we even having the discussion of having kids in school? The thought that we’re going to use our kids as test subjects with a novel virus that attacks your lungs is just ludicrous to me. I guess I have the unique perspective of being an elementary school teacher but also being the parent of an elementary school student that is high risk. My daughter has one good functioning lung, she has a lung disease. And so I’m not willing to use her as a test subject, and then all the other kids that have asthma—like, there are kids that have high risk. I literally potentially may have to choose between the health of my child and my job.

“The fact that these conversations are being had at the district level are being had with districts and with teachers via Zoom, should tell you something. We’re not gathering ourselves. But we’re talking about bringing in children to the school.

”It’s a setup for failure, it’s a setup for, let’s return to school, see what happens, and then when cases spike, then what do we do? I get that in-person schooling is the best educational option and I agree with that 110% but at what costs? When do we decide it is not the best option for kids, is it when so many kids get sick is it when children start dying? There have been kids that have passed from this virus. Yes it is a low percentage but what if your child or your student is one of those?”

I prefaced with that #repost because all this freestyling is not working. We have to be strategic, stop being emotional and get out of our feelings. We are in a fight for our survival, our future and those who come behind us. Freestyling isn’t a battle plan.

Morning fam, #Repost I get this all the time… It is the first indicator that I’m dealing with someone who hasn’t studied, “THEM: “So what are you doing? All of this intellectualizing but when do we move forward with some action?” Whenever people ask these types of questions they are inferring and assuming that intellectualism isn’t work. It reveals however their ignorance of historical and political movements and their understanding of revolution. So here’s my reply to questions like these: I am a revolutionary. This means I look to find the root of a problem and once doing so, instead of trying to reform it, I seek to uproot and destroy it; then I replace it with something new. I am also an intellectual, a writer and a teacher. These are my talents. You ask “what I’m doing?” Well, it entails, in part the mastering of these activities. The formulation of social theories requires a very real historical understanding of the problem so as to find very clear adequate solutions to those problems; solutions that moves and guides us closer to the creation and maintenance of social institutions. This requires time. Where there is no revolutionary theory there can be no revolutionary action. Thought precedes action. A lot of us think we know exactly what the problems are and what the solutions are but we don’t because we refuse to study. This is why groups meet, the reason for organization; it’s how we can ensure that we are moving in the right direction. Otherwise, we’re just doing a bunch of stuff under the belief we are being active and consequently we never go anywhere. So I’m all for doing but let’s be strategic in our doing.” – Irik Omowale
