Instant gratification of social media got a lot of folks thinking this will be easy, that ‘building’ can happen overnight… that all it takes is a Gofundme or a Facebook page and voila.
It took Bill Gates decades to create Windows. It took Rupert Murdock years to create FOX News. They were privileged. And they had means… money, employees, resources.
Lots of movement folks jumping on the bandwagon, but they’re not techies. They’re not skilled in building content management systems, websites or apps. They don’t know how to transition from social media. They have no idea the webspace/servers it will take to back up THOUSANDS of videos, audio and posts. Or the amount of bandwidth required. Or even the software/hardware required to make this work possible. They’re not media savvy, they don’t have a background in media, marketing or business. They don’t know how to build prototypes. Don’t have vision. They never built anything from scratch other than presence on platforms created/funded by someone else.
That’s not gonna cut it fam. This work requires vision, the ability to see trends, patience and very specific skills. Its important to recognize the diff between those who possess these skills and those taking up space/wasting resources that could be put to better use.
