Travelers worried about lack of COVID-19 screening at Lambert International, other airports

For weeks now News 4 has been getting comments about screening, or the lack of screening for COVID-19, at Lambert International and other American airports.

The region isn’t a major tour destination like Vegas or Orlando or Atlantic City despite trying to rebrand itself as such in the aftermath of Ferguson by investing in tourist attractions such as a Ferris wheel, Loop Trolley, aquarium, XFL football and major league soccer despite it being voted down overwhelmingly by residents. <br><br>True there was no way to know we would be struck by a pandemic, but city officials do have a failing record that spans decades of investing in tourist attractions, sports leagues/stadiums and toys for suburbanites while de-investing in black people, neighborhoods and the quality of life. <br><br>The virus, hibernation and layoffs/massive work stoppage should serve as a wake up call, constituents > tourists. If you lose your constituency you lose your tax base. St. Louis lost 2/3 of it’s population since the World’s Fair and has been on a steady decline, even still today. It may take years, generations to recover. If it recovers at all.
