All took the black vote for granted, thinking they didn’t have to come to us with anythign that spoke specifically to our interests. Neither had a black agenda… they bet on black people settling for a progressive agenda or being told we would benefit from agendas that affect everyone instead of an agenda the spoke to us, acknowledged and addressed our specific issues. They bet wrong. And while each won a high percentage of the black vote, the overall number of black voters was lower. We stood down.
