Electing activists/protesters who have have not studied, have no political education, historical or critical analysis skills and are not centered in black ideology has been proven disastrous yet many of us are already caping up for more… I’ll say it again, “Fam, we gotta start connecting the dots and looking at the bigger picture. Before we can do that, we have to get out of our feelings and decide where our loyalties lie… with our friends/boy/fav movement personality in certain positions or with our collective advancement, because we can’t have both… we have come as far as we can go with certain people in certain positions. To my movement fam…. this is not hating, this is not a diss. This is “You don’t send guppies to fight sharks”… you send sharks, you suit up your best, you bring your A game. We haven’t been doing that… Since Ferguson we have allowed people selected by those outside our community to ‘represent’ us, to ingrain themselves in ‘the process’… to take up space… People who may be the best folks in the world, yet are inexperienced, lack the political, social, economical and social knowledge required to look at what’s happening around us in the proper context, let alone life experience to counter any of it. And those are the ones I’m giving the benefit of the doubt. Others are grant hustling and turning tricks for nonprofits and the Democratic Party. The worse our situation, the more access they get to officials, to media, to funding they wouldn’t receive otherwise. Funding that is not going to change our circumstance or educate our masses. When survival and lives are at stake, leaders don’t have the luxury of ‘learning as they go’… You cannot drag Lyda Krewson for her failures, then turn around cape and provide cover for those in certain positions ‘on our side’ who fail us. While you may feel conflicted, understand the rest of us aren’t. Your inability to put your personal loyalties aside is causing conflict where there should be no conflict. Everyone should be on board with bringing our A game… because that’s what its gonna take. Anything less will result in more of the same… and worse.” #WhenLosingIsDisguisedAsWinning
